Les outils du territoire
Project with association Formes & fonctions
28 Feb. — 4 Mar. 2022
“Les outils du territoire” is an initiation project for young people who identify themselves as female to learn how to use building tools (drills, sanders, jigsaws, and so on). It was conceived by the association Formes & fonctions to support them in learning about different production and skilled trades that exist in the area (management, carpentry, metalwork, etc.) and to aid in their accessibility.
Workshop #1: from 28 February to 4 March, 2022, from 9:30am to noon
For young people who identify themselves as female, 12 to 18 years
For its first workshop, the association Formes & fonctions is joining with La Galerie, centre d’art contemporain de Noisy-le-Sec to offer an introduction to the profession of exhibition manager.
Over five mornings the group, alongside a technical manager from La Galerie and an artist from the association Formes & fonctions, will conceive and construct a cabin, part of the scenography for the art centre’s next exhibition.
Project supported by Fondation Placoplatre.
The goal of the association Formes & fonctions (founded in 2020) is to introduce young people, from 8 to 18 year, who identify themselves as female, to the use of building tools. Its founder, Anna Ternon, artist and researcher (SACRe / Laboratory- ENS/PSL), noticed that women have difficulties using drills, circular saws, sanders, etc. By familiarising them with these tools from an early age, she wants to show them that they are capable of building and fixings, and that this knowledge can be a means of their emancipation and their integration into the world of work.
These workshops are for young people who identify themselves as female. No experience is necessary, just your curiosity and motivation is enough.
